Miami Heat Elbow Double Curl

In Game 2 of the 2014 NBA Final, LeBron James went on a scoring streak in the 2nd half and becameĀ unguardable. The Spurs did a very good job guarding him, he was just unconscious. If you watch the Heat you know that Erik Spoelstra loves running elbow actions that usually go into a flex or some kind of hand-off with a weak side pin-down. However, on this set he got the ball to the hot hand, LeBron, by running the double curl action.

Miami Heat End of Game Need 3

Last night the Miami Heat were down 4 versus the Brooklyn Nets at the end of the game and Erik Spoelstra drew up this action to get Lebron James a quick catch & shoot 3-ptr. Lebron made the shot but it wasn’t enough as the Heat fell to the Nets in Brooklyn’s home opener for the season.

Miami Heat Down Loop

The Miami Heat ran this action a few years ago to get 3 (Lebron) posted up. After being screened into a pick & roll with 1, 3 received a baseline stagger to the opposite block. The multiple screening actions makes it nearly impossible for the defense to prevent the catch off the block.

Miami Heat 23 Power

The Miami Heat ran this little misdirection action to get Lebron James and Dwyane Wade coming off of scoring cuts at the same exact time.

Miami Heat ATO – Lob for Lebron James

Erik Spoelstra drew up this gem a few seasons ago to get Lebron James a lob at the rim after a timeout. By lifting 3 and sprinting a shooter to the corner this limited any help defense other than X5 who did not help on the backscreen.
